Classic Klondike uses 52 cards. Deal seven tableau columns containing one through seven cards, with the top card of each face up. The remaining cards form the stock. Build four foundations by suit from ace to king to win.
The tableau follows a different order: build down by rank and alternate red and black. A black 6 may go on a red 7, but not on a black 7. Move a correctly ordered face-up sequence together, keeping its order, and turn over the card uncovered below it.
An empty tableau column normally accepts a king or a sequence starting with a king. This makes an empty column useful, but clearing one without an available king may not create an immediate move.
Turn stock cards when needed. Turn-one and turn-three expose cards differently, and the permitted number of stock passes varies by game. Only the currently accessible waste card can be played; cards buried beneath it are not freely available.
Before moving, ask whether the move uncovers a face-down card or makes room for a useful king. A legal move is not always progress. Hints and undo, where provided, help compare options; a random deal may still be unwinnable.
The button below opens a solitaire collection rather than an immediate turn-one or turn-three deal. Select Klondike in the game's menu and check its draw setting. After selecting the variant, start a deal with your preferred draw setting.
